"You do realize this is going to be the worst thing ever made, Garrett, right?"
This movie may drive you insane. It's nonsensical, stupid and pointless - horrible and yet strangely entertaining. Personally I love it, perhaps for all the wrong reasons. It makes me question the entire idea of amateur filmmaking.
Like the original Ghost Busted, this started as an honest attempt to shoot a comedy film with a Ghostbusters theme while at the Camp Rewind film festival. Once again, I completely failed to shoot a Ghostbusters movie. In fact, I failed to shoot any movie at all. I follow around various funny filmmaking people, and they attempt half-assedly to entertain you without knowing what the hell they should do. Occasionally they mention ghosts.
Is it even a movie? What is it? Do the people being photographed want me not to photograph them? Do they actually want to punch me in the face? Can your heart stand the stunning truth of Ghostbusted 2?

Look Out, Ghost!
In summer 2002, while filming Gods of Los Angeles, J. Brugmann, David Ashe and Garrett Gilchrist drove across country in John's orange 1980 Volkswagen bus, traveling from L.A. to Rapid City, South Dakota, for the 2002 Camp Rewind film festival hosted by Marc and Michael Linn. It was extremely hot and a long drive, and the bus had to be pushed to start it. We ate mostly hot dogs. The desert scenes where David Ashe goes insane, and Garrett Gilchrist is annoying, were filmed on the way, and on the way back. J. Brugmann refused to act in the movie, but Garrett stubbornly filmed him anyway.
Although the final film was directed by Garrett Gilchrist, David Ashe also went off on his own and directed scenes for the movie, which were never used, because the footage was stolen from his Florida dorm room, along with the video camera he shot them on. The scenes included Jeremy Gardner of the Queequeg Films crew as a Rod Serling type narrator, as Jay Bauman, Lisa Renley and others get a mysterious message about "Deejay" - a reference to my Radio Man series apparently.
As with the original Ghostbusted, I wanted to make a movie with an actual storyline about a team of amateur Ghostbusters - similar to what was eventually made as Ghostbusted 3. But everyone had seen the first Ghostbusted and didn't believe me ... so the film became about people not quite believing I actually want to make a movie.
Most of the movie was unexpected - I just filmed whatever was going on. The scene at Mount Rushmore stars a random old guy who was walking by. I was filming Jonathan Margheim pointing out the names of those who built Mt. Rushmore having their nicknames carved into stone as "Big Dick" et al ... Jay, Mike, and Rich came walked up to Jon and begged him for autographs, calling him "Michael Yebba," a famous action star. They then stole his pen and bag. Almost nothing was planned - I turned on the camera and things happened. Largely because if I planned something, no one would want to do it!
Justin Bielawa [bathroom ghost] mailed in his cameo from Connecticut - filmed by David Ashe.
Inside Jokes
Jonathan Margheim plays famous Hollywood action hero "Michael Yebba." This is a reference to "Deathlist," a bad amateur horror movie that Mike Stoklasa and Jay Bauman often referenced in their movies, such as "Where's Deathlist?" and "Gorilla Interrupted."
Mike Stoklasa says he's part of a secret government organization, the FWO. Deathlist director Guy McConnell got so angry at Mike and I mocking his movie that he posted several videos as a terrorist leader of the "FWO." As Lisa Renley says, it appears to be a wrestling reference.
Rich Evans spoofs his past slapstick movies with Mike Stoklasa, where he would often fall down stairs and say "Ow my groin."
After "Excaliburger," Garrett Gilchrist was often told he was annoying as a lead actor. He spoofs this perception by being terrifyingly annoying here. It's unpleasant to watch.
"Let's go get Jimmy" and the hitman movie with Rich and Dave spoofs a very old, very bad amateur short by Random Foo ("Spontaneous Combustion") in which two hitmen are "set up to kill each other" by "Jimmy." It was their first attempt at filmmaking in 1996. Rich Evans and Mike Stoklasa had spoofed the first Random Foo movies in a series of short films. The real actors - Dan Gorgone, C.C. Chapman, and Joe Vaccariello of Random Foo - also appear in this movie, and Rich and Mike mock them in person.
