Trailer: Radio Man: The Movie!

He's back! In spite of popular demand! The most epic, anticipated motion picture of the year. With a special appearance by Deejay. (From 2002)

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 1: "I am on the Video"

Radio Man has ... against all better judgement and sanity ... been a recurring feature here since 2001. He's done 10 radio episodes, 3 half-hour radio specials, and 6 live stand-up acts ... along with a trailer for an unmade film. And I say, the best kind of horse to beat is a dead horse, so I'm proud to announce that Radio Man has finally done what I thought he'd never do ... he's become a video man. Strangely, he's still doing the same old radio show. Except we can see him now.

In the first episode of this new web series, Radio Man reunites with his old friend Deejay, and learns some important lessons about his own sexuality. He also performs the "Flower Song." Twice. Radio Man's mom's fish are also involved. (From 2005)

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 2: "Deejay Has a Drug Problem"

In this very special after school special, Radio Man has to confront his best friend ... because his best friend has a drug problem. That's right folks, Deejay is hooked on the smack, and only Radio Man can save him. This very special episode tackles the rampant drug problem in our country. Also: Radio Man sings "The Potato/11 song!" Don't miss it! Or do. See if I care. (From 2005)

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 3: "Radio Man Finds a Mate"

BEWARE! The MONSTER seeks a MATE! In this episode, Radio Man explains why his shows have been a bit crap lately - he's been distracted. You see, Radio Man is in LOVE! Yes, love is in the air, and you'll find out all the creepy details, as we head to the inevitable conclusion. Plus, Radio Man sings his new hit song, "The King of All Fish," and some other songs. (From 2005)

Radio Man Live! (8 mb, Realplayer)

Oh dear. It's our own Radio Man, and he's live onstage, performing at USC's coffehouse and poet/musician hangout, GroundZero. Well, not so much performing as destroying the stage. The story goes: Jason Gutierrez convinced me to crash an open mic night ... I had no plan, no idea what to do, and as soon as I arrived I suddenly found himself onstage. I proceeded to wing it. Kind of a terrible performance, but you get to see him confuse and annoy open mike host Alexia, and accidentally steal and destroy some random person's guitar! (From 2003)

Radio Man: Live Without Pants! (10 min, 35 MB, Quicktime)

Radio Man performs his standup act for the third time, live at USC's Groundzero coffeehouse. The last time, he was thrown offstage before he could even perform. This time, Radio Man takes off his pants. The pants are off, and no holds are barred. Watch Radio Man talk about eating paint! Watch Radio Man try to eat his own pants! Shiver with glee as Radio Man puts on 3-d glasses and sings his hit single, "Space Hat," with guitar accompaniment by his manager, Jason Gutierrez. (From 2003)

Live Video: Radio Man is a Poet! (Realplayer)

The sixth onstage performance for Radio Man, who stumbles onstage to bare his soul as a poet, performing deep, thoughtful poems about loneliness and the 1980s cartoon series "He-Man And the Masters of the Universe." Performed at USC's Groundzero coffee house. (From 2003)

The original Radio Man radio shows ran online from 2001 to 2003. 13 episodes (including 3 half hour specials) and 3 songs are now online.

Find out in FF Radio episode 13, Radio Man Makes a Friend!(20 min, 20 MB, MP3) (20 min., 10 mb, Realplayer version) This ep guest-stars Jason Gutierrez of Transcend Entertainment. Music from J. Brugmann - featuring Radio Man!

The musician was apparently inspired by Radio Man to create three mad musical escapades. Check it out --

I Smell Spinoffs!

Vivian Spears, British brother of Radio Man, performs the Bonzo Dog (Doo Dah) Band classic, Death Cab For Cutie, which was heard in the Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour. Shot at the same time as the first unreleased Radio Man Holiday Special, which starred Vivian.

Deejay also appears in The Torgo Donuts. Garrett Gilchrist is not in his Radio Man persona during this short film, but otherwise it's similar to material seen and heard on the Radio Man show (particularly the final scene). The short was intended as a commentary on the trailer for The Robert Cake, a movie by Queequeg films. Garrett had appeared with the Queequeg films cast in Torgo and the Quest For Fuck, so he commented on that film with this improvised thing. It's sort of an extended inside joke and not really relevant anymore. Still ....

Unreleased Radio Man

During 2005, Radio Man filmed a great deal of filmed material. Very little of this was ever released, and what was released wasn't the best material. I have tapes and tapes of this somewhere, maybe ten episodes worth. There was a special all music episode, as well as the Politics episode, where Radio man belatedly commented on how John Kerry lost the Presidential election. He sang the Politics song.

In 2002, a couple of tapes worth of material was recorded for the Radio Man Trailer, including a scene where Radio Man said goodbye to Deejay.

Around Christmas 2005, a feature-length Radio Man film was shot, the Radio Man Holiday Special. Jason Gutierrez made a small appearance as Announcer Guy, and both Radio Man and his brother Vivian were visited by three spirits. Radio Man's brother Vivian Spears was more of the star of the film, learning from the spirits how to hit on women. There was also an appearance by the ghost of Jacob Spaulding (from Gorilla, Interrupted). And Deejay. This was never edited together or released. Both Radio Man and Vivian sang several songs.

At the beginning of November 2008, Radio Man commented on the presidential election, just before it occurred - this episode was called "Radiobama." Radio Man impersonated Japanese superhero Ultraman and talked to a ghost-shaped candle. This was never edited together or released. He sang the Politics song again!

Around Christmas 2008, Radio Man filmed another lengthy Christmas Special. He sang songs and talked generally about Christmas, and how he felt he'd grown fat - not as fancy as the previous unreleased feature special, and unreleased partly because Garrett thought he was too old and chubby to play Radio Man at that time (he returned to the part in 2011).
